PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia’s economy will remain growing in October to December 2019, as indicated by the Leading Index (LI) for June 2019 which registered 117.6 points, down 0.3% from a month earlier.
Chief statistician Malaysia Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the monthly growth remained negative due to the decrease in four of the LI components.
“On a yearly basis, the LI fell further for the second consecutive months to negative 0.8% in June 2019 after having a positive growth of 0.3% in April 2019,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the annual change of Coincident Index (CI) as reflection of the current economic performance, stood positive with a growth of 1.9% in June 2019.
Subsequently, the monthly change declined 0.2% propped mainly by the decreased in capacity utilisation in the manufacturing sector (-0.7%).
